Important Community Gathering: March 6, 2026

Hello neighbors!

We have an exciting and important free Community Meeting on March 6, 2026 from 5-8PM at South Berkeley’s Lemat Restaurant regarding the Ashby BART development. Lemat is a wonderful locally owned Ethiopian restaurant at 3212 Adeline St. and will have a delicious sampling of food that evening. Your ideas and thoughts matter! We want your visions for the Ashby BART development.  

Healthy Black Families and the developers of the West Lot (Ashby BART parking lot) are seeking community input and will be a part of this meeting. We believe that BART and the City must understand that repair to South Berkeley’s black community is needed as a result of it being torn up when the Ashby BART Station was built in the 1970’s. Employing local labor, providing resources for tenants , and providing a beautiful, clean, safe, environmentally friendly development that builds up the community is paramount.
