Check out the South Berkeley Mosaic Project

The South Berkeley Mosaic Project is happening! We’d love to have you join us. This is a project that accompanies the mural The Invisible Becomes Visible, that was painted 3 years ago on Ashby at Ellis street by Edythe Boone and a team of artists as well as the community.

The mosaic contains handmade plaques that tell the story of what and who is on the mural. Plus, it contains over 140 small handmade tiles, created by the community over the past 2 years.

Sunday, Monday and Wednesdays in June and July (9-3)  are when we are out at Ashby at Ellis Street laying tiles or grouting. We are breaking tiles and putting them on the cement with mortar. We will grout all the spaces between the tiles too. The work is not complicated. If you like doing jigsaw puzzles, you’d like mosaicing. We are working on the ground using small stools. You’re welcome to drop by to say hello and watch the progress too!
