A Conversation about the Adeline Community

Saturday, October 19, 2019, 1:30-4:00PM

@ Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch Library

The City of Berkeley has spent $750,000 and over 4 years to produce a plan for the Adeline “Corridor.”

We ask: “Does this plan represent what we all see as appropriate and good for the Adeline Community?” We see an Adeline Community of people who live and work here and not an Adeline Corridor of transit and housing for out-of-town workers.

●What about displacement and gentrification?  We want housing, new and old, that is really affordable to the people who live here now and those who have been forced to leave due to rising housing costs.

●We want our community to be racially and economically diverse.  We treasure the history of our predominantly African American community.  The racism that has brutalized and denied housing wealth to our current and former neighbors has no place here.

●We want the Flea Market to stay where it’s been for over 40 years – it’s a critical part of our community’s rich history.

We invite South Berkeley to come together and tell the City what we need for our community.
